Christmas in Gozo offers an enchanting experience. If you’re celebrating Christmas in Malta , you cannot miss it. No excuses. You gotta make time, even if it means a spot of island hopping for a day trip . In preparation for this magical season, I’ve gathered all the best things to see and do during the most wonderful time of the year

Visit Villa Rundle Gardens
Hold onto your Santa hat 🎅🏾because Villa Rundle Gardens are kind of like hitting the festive jackpot! This market is a Mediterranean Christmas Market showcasing Gozo’s artisan treasures. On the stalls you can see crafts, pick up gifts, unique decorations, Christmas hampers and plenty of Christmassy vibes. And the best part? Entrance is free! So, go on. What’s stopping you from joining the festive fun?

Visit the Live Nativity in Gozo
It’s beginning to look like Christmas, especially in Ghajnsielem! As does the village of Nadur. Visit either of these villages in Gozo, for a chance to see a life-sized reenactment retelling the nativity story. After all, isn’t this what Christmas is all about?

The Magro Christmas Family Fest
Go to the Magro Christmas Family Fest at Savina Artisan Centre, Xewkija – it’s a Crafty Marvel extravaganza! Visit to see local craftspeople weave their magic. Watch as they turn clay into bold ceramics and beads into beautiful baubles. Not only can you pick up charming gifts, but ones that are just as meaningful. Oh, and by the way, Magro Christmas Fest isn’t just a market; it’s a spot big on Christmas cheer. Enjoy science experiments, carousel rides, merry-go-rounds, train rides, and more. And guess what? This year, they’ve added a new virtual reality experience too! What’s especially cool: it’s for everyone!
Visit Santa’s Workshop (he’s in Gozo)
Bet you didn’t know that Santa’s Workshop is in Gharb? At least in Gozo. For Christmas, Ta’ Dbieġi Crafts Village transforms into an enchanting workshop. Visit to see local artisans at work. Oh, and if you’re on Santa’s nice list, you can even take part in craft-making activities. Nothing’s stopping you from buying authentic presents, though. Santa will be there too, along with his crew! So there’s no way you won’t be feeling the Christmas vibes here!

Join Gozo’s Christmas Parade
Go and watch the Gozo Christmas Parade; it’s tradition. Over 250 kids parade through Victoria with festive displays, colourful floats, music, and a healthy dose of holiday cheer. It’s a joyous occasion, perfectly capturing the spirit of Christmas and Gozo’s warm sense of community.

Stroll Victoria’s Street at Christmastime
Make sure you take a stroll through the decked-out streets of Victoria. A visit comes highly recommended to see those twinkling lights, snap pictures of festive decorations, and simply soak in the joy that defines Christmas in Gozo. Oh, and indulge your sweet tooth with Gozo’s winter treats! And before you ask, of course, it includes mulled wine. Pastries too. Some are so delicious it’s like waking up on Christmas morn!

Visit Santa’s Magical Market
Don’t miss the Santa’s Magical Market in Qala Square! It’s a festive treasure trove featuring crafts, gifts, and the jolly atmosphere of Santa’s workshop.

Visit Ta’ Pinu This Christmas
Visit Ta’ Pinu, where the Christmas Village feels like a scene from a fairytale.🧚🏾♀️Imagine serene spots, cute little crafts that seem to say “pick me”. Then there’s candles. Scarves too. And they’re not churned out in bulk. No, these are individually crafted with care. Then there’s Ta Pinu Basilica itself. Ordinarily, a visit here provides a sacred backdrop. But being Christmas, there’s an extra touch of magic added to the miracle church. 📌So add a visit to Ta Pinu to your Christmas list.
See a Christmas(ish) Panto
If you fancy watching a panto, then there’s Aladdin Rock N Roll 🥁showing from 26th to 30th December at Teatru Astra in Victoria. Check here for more details.

Attend Christmas Concerts
No fewer than 25 Christmas concerts are hosted all over Gozo, including the enchanting “O Magnum Mysterium” (held at the wonderful Ta’ Pinu (Miracle) Church. For the full program of musical delights check here and warm up for a carol-fest sensation.🎶

See the Feast of Light
If you’re around on 13th December, you gotta head to the feast of St. Lucija Square or Fjakkolata as it’s known locally. Yep, it’s on the same day as the Feast of Light, so the little village is lit up with over a thousand lanterns.✨️ Of course there’s fireworks too (Gozitans love it too) and a live band. Traditional food too, like the famous St Lucija buns. Oh and don’t miss the spectacular sight of the huge 170-meter Christmas Tree sprawled out on Għar Ilma hill. It’s a dazzling display that adds an extra little sparkle to your Christmas in Gozo. And of course Gozo’s countryside.

Attend Midnight Mass (and Christmas Concert)
And finally, if you fancy a traditional Christmassy vibe, then you’ll need to go to Midnight Mass. 💒 Gozo Christmas style. Held in parish churches and chapels all over the island. But they don’t get much better than at St George’s Basilica. Stick around after and enjoy a Christmas Concert, making your Christmas Eve truly magical.
